NICE | FROM THE MARKET TO MATISSE
Experience the historic atmosphere of Nice's Old Town, including the colorful open-air market in Cours Saleya, where locals shop for flowers, fresh produce and even antiques. Taste some of the city’s traditional delicacies, such as socca, a chickpea-flour pancake; pissaladiere, a unique type of onion tart; and les petits farcis, vegetables stuffed with sausage meat. Continue to the Matisse Museum, to view a collection of works donated to the city by its namesake artist — famed for his use of color and pattern — and his heirs. Then, head for the hills above the Baie des Anges to visit the medieval village of St-Paul-de-Vence, a mecca for artists. You may wish to enjoy lunch at your leisure at the exclusive Colombe d'Or, a hotel boasting a priceless collection of paintings. Afterward, return back to your hotel, with your afternoon at leisure.

DAY 3
MONTE CARLO, MONACO | JEWEL OF THE CÔTE D’AZUR
Today, explore the glittering seaside city of Monte Carlo, and the mountains and coast of Monaco that surround it. Start with a visit to the peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to walk around the stately and stunning Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, nestled amid private gardens. Enter the villa to view the breathtaking collection of porcelain, artwork and furniture inside, bequeathed to the Académie des Beaux-Arts by Béatrice de Rothschild. Alternatively, travel to Eze, a village perched dramatically on the clifftop 1,400 feet above the Mediterranean Sea to take in the splendid views along the coast. Explore the village’s narrow, winding streets and charming squares. If you like, stroll through the Jardin Exotique, home to around 400 cacti, citrus trees and tropical plants. Proceed to glamorous Monte Carlo, to visit the extravagant Palais Princier, residence of the Royal family, and the Oceanography Museum, with time to marvel at the ocean denizens in its dazzling aquarium.
